The journey from my Achillies injury

Image
Have you ever had an injury that stopped you from doing the sport you loved? Did you have to quit that dream or goal you wanted? I had that kind of injury that happened to me. It was during my senior year of high school for cross country in the fall. It was a meet against North Allegany and Seneca Valley. Some of the best cross country and track schools for athletes in these sports. During the race, I was on pace for a new PR I was running a 5:15 mile at the time. I was on pace to run a 15:50 5k time. Little did I know this would not happen, and something devastating would happen in the next few moments. The next event that happened during the downhill part of the race, I got shoved from behind by an NA runner. My body rolled down the hill, and my Achilles muscle popped. My entire leg got cut open on the rocks, and I had blood all down my leg, where I had to limp on one leg till the finish line. The moment this happened, I was so mad I lost my chance at getting a PR, and little wo...

What a Time to be a Toronto Fan- Mental Health

Image
It is a great time to be a Toronto fan right now, to any Toronto Fans out there. Last night, the Toronto Raptors had their first game of the season against the Atlanta Hawks. The Toronto Raptors came out hot, getting their first win 138-118. RJ Barrett dropped 25 points while Brandon Ingram had 16 points and 9 rebounds. You might be wondering why this matters, and everything well to my mental health, it has a huge impact. As a lifelong Toronto fan, I have gone through many disappointments, like the Leafs not making it to the conference final or just winning a playoff series. Or the Blue Jays not making the playoffs at all. Well, this year has been different. The Blue jays are in the world Series against the LA Dodgers. The Blue Jays have a chance to prove the entire world wrong in this World Series, going against a huge threat Dodgers' lineup. As for the Leafs, they have 7 points in 7 games. One less point than last year at this time. There are still tons of games left for the Lea...

The Toronto Maple Leaf's lose once again

Image
Game 7 of the 2025-2026 season, the Leaf's lose 5-2 vs the New Jersey Devils. What started out as a good game, John Tavares scored his 4th goal of the season to put the Leafs up 1-0 in the first period. However, this would change very shortly in the second period. The Leafs would end up letting in a goal to Jack Hughes for his first goal of the season. The Leafs' Head Coach, Berube, would challenge this goal for goalie interference. They would lose this challenge and get a delay of the game, giving New Jersey another power play. This would hurt the Leafs even more, giving Cody Glass of course a Powerplay goal for the Devils. A minute later in the game, Brenden Dillon scores his first goal of the season for the Devils, putting them up 3-1. However, 2 minutes later into the game, the Leafs are coming back into the offensive zone with a pass from John Tavares to William Nylander, who makes a sweet backhand pass to Matias Marcelli for his first goal with the Leafs this season. I s...

Pickleball

Image
Pickleball is the fastest-growing sport in the world. I got into pickleball when I had my Achilles injury. This sport helped me try something while my Achilles was healing.  I couldn't move my legs too much, but this helped me with hand-eye coordination and my reflexes. Pickleball is a great way to stay active; you are always using some sort of muscle when playing the game. That could be using your legs, wrist, shoulders, and back. It is very important to have a strong core to be able to turn and twist during the game. I have been playing pickleball for over 3 years now, and it is my favorite sport to play of all time. I have started to play in pickleball tournaments a lot recently. I have won 2 tournaments so far, they are an enjoyment to play in and a great way of meeting new people. Overall, Pickleball is a great sport to be active in you are always moving and focused. Anyone who hasn't played yet should try to get out and learn more about the sport.
